Giving your best...everytime

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Colossians 3:23-24

Time and time again I've come to a point where I needed to remind myself of the challenging truth found in these verses. On a day-to-day bases it gets challenging sometimes to keep that truth at the forefront of our minds but its the only way we can be efficient workers that earn a heavenly reward from God. Most of us have at least someone we answer to, to a certain degree. A supervisor/boss at work, a parent, a guardian or someone else. The verses quoted above from God's divinely inspired Word teaches us to be dilligent at ALL we do.

It is important to note that it says whatever you do... not whatever you enjoy doing. Many of us only give our all to things we enjoy doing, and anything that doesn't fall in that category gets our minimum possible effort. But God's word says otherwise! It does not matter if our bosses that are not cooperative, or co-workers that are backbiters, or parents and leaders that are not considerate of you.... still, we are to give our best. Why?? Because "it is the Lord Christ we are serving" vs 24 from above.

Keeping our focus on pleasing God is what helps most in serving with the right heart. Along with that, is the choice to not allow what anyone says or does to reduce the quality of your service to God. So at our jobs, let us be a part of the people doing their work dilligently at all times, whether or not we're being recognized for it. Also, at our churches, and in our relationships, let us be in the HABIT of always giving our heart's best!

We Can do it friends...Let's go!

  1. Wow...very timely for me. I feel like I've been working like a slave and at times feel like just coasting through work. Lesson for me: Let's learn to put in our best at all times, regardless of reward or appreciation!
My earthly father always told me: "what is worth doing at all is worth doing well!"
    Thanks for sharing...
