Ready for the New Year??

The new stretch of brand new 365 days lies ahead...what are your goals for the new year? What dreams lay dormant in 2009 that you desire to see bloom in 2010? Friends the real question is when they bloom are WE ready??? The number 10 in Biblical numbering stands for "the perfection of divine order." Which brings to mind God's word to us in Philippians 1:6 that God who "began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" Our God isn't one who begins but doesn't complete. He is so not like us, ever faithful is He.

Thus in the new year, we can joyfully anticipate a refreshing completion of things He already began to do in our lives. And at the same time 2010 is a brand new decade. None of us know what it holds, but we do know this one thing- we will not for ONE day be left alone. As long as we stay close to our creator-savior-God, We are covered!...this decade, and many more. So go ahead, make your goals for the new year or even for the decade. Habakkuk 2:2-3 does remind us to "write the vision down, make it plain upon tables...for the vision is yet for an appointed time...and though it tarry, wait for it, it shall surely come" These verses are very encouraging as we journey along, its saying, after our 'plans' are all written down, wait for it! don't give up on it. Persevere when the going gets tiring, push harder when its a drag...but one thing is for sure, it SHALL surely come.

Finally, the need for God in this process of planning/hoping/dreaming cannot be over-emphasized. Proverbs 19:21 states clearly, that "many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails" But friends, the beauty in this is the fact that if we're walking with God in sincerity, He reveals His purpose/plans/thoughts to us as we ask Him. And so in essence, His purpose and our plans align. Disappointment sets in when we're on a different agenda from His. So before you set those goals, talk to the dream-making creator-God, and don't just stop there! Walk every step of the process with Him. Obedience He says, is better than sacrifice.

He is the author and finisher of our faith. He starts things, and sees it to completion. I pray that in 2010, we'll all attain deeper levels of trust in Him than we've ever known...Cos thats the only way we can attain heights that far exceed our expectations. I wish you all reading this, along with your friends and family an outstandingly memorable 2010, filled with many pleasant surprises from the lover of our soul, God himself!
