The pharisees asked "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
~ Matthew 22:36-40
All the TEN commandments we had to learn, in Exodus 20; is summed up in TWO, thanks to the simplicity of Christ's message. He is not the author of confusion, doesn't give room for excuses- He just commands us to love...sounds easy uhn? Needless to say, God sent Christ out of love, to show us how to love; and Christ obeyed out of that same pure love. nothing ambiguous or unattainable. We received, and are commanded/inspired to give.
Religion says let's do more: let's feed the poor, let's do fund raisers for good causes, let's go to church, let's be SEEN as God's people. True relationship with Christ on the other hand births no hypocrisy! All actions are fueled by God's love from within flowing out. The practice of religion holds no power, just routines and doctrines and empty fruitless living. But a life of love is a life of giving to others that breeds ultimate fulfillment.
God's call on us is unto love, an unconditionally pure and unselfish love. That, my friends is the ONLY way to win the world for our God. Empty religion will not do it, neither will phariseelike-hypocrisy...one way only! Love.
More on love in next post!
