Welcome to the last part of "the call..to Love". If you haven't read parts 1 & 2, you should! Then you'll understand the full picture. After establishing previously the actions that don't necessarily show love, we can now go and explore what God (The embodiment of love) says it is...
Continuing on to 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (New Living Translation)
Love is patient and kind.
Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.
Love does not demand its own way.
Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged.
It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful,
And endures through every circumstance.
Love will last forever...
Sounds sweet I bet...But May Ask You a Favor? Please return to those 5 verses and read over it again....much slower this time and et each line soak in. Then evaluate yourself. How do you rate consistently? Keyword is consistently- meaning on a regular basis. Many of us falter, because the whole of life is the journey to attaining the image of God that we strive after. But we must continue to take in His word, because that's the only way to be more and more like Him- in love and life.
And so it's imperative that i remind us- that we can only give what we possess...the more we allow God's love to sink inside our core, the more sweetness and love will pour out toward others. So in my case, the more I REALIZE how really patient God is toward me, the more I choose to be patient with others.
In conclusion i reiterate the truth in 1 John 4:15,"And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God and God in him." This in effect means, that the closer our walk with God is, the freer we'll be, to REALLY live life to the fullest- in Love.
